This panorama of Beaver Stadium, photographed by Christopher Gjevre, features the Penn State Nittany Lions playing to another capacity crowd. Beaver Stadium opened in 1960 with a capacity of 46,284. Following several expansions, it now routinely hosts more than 107,282 fans on football Saturdays in Happy Valley. Beaver Stadium, named after former Pennsylvania Governor James A. Beaver, has hosted some of the largest college football crowds in history. Established in 1855 in University Park, Pennsylvania, Penn State University currently enrolls 43,200 students at its University Park campus, with more than 84,000 total students enrolled at its 24 Commonwealth campuses.
